The Current Art Of Reiki

The practice of Reiki is in surprisingly strong demand by many individuals. It is probably best known for its healing purposes. Underlying each individual’s practice are several important concepts. There are many who do properly understand these concepts. There are others current practice shows significant variation with tradition. Some variations indicate that instructors were not careful to adhere to proper concepts. There is considerable difference between current practice that maintains a connection to traditional concepts and other modern practices that vary too much from tradition. The authentic practice of Reiki is a common type of Japanese healing. If you learn from a Reiki instructor you can develop a keen awareness of the varieties. In these modern times, there are many types of Reiki and several modes of instruction. Reiki therapy practitioners learn through a strict instructional system. It includes several levels and degrees of certification.

Reiki practitioners come from all over the world. There are countless opportunities to learn at Reiki clubs and other institutions each with their own Reiki Master. The original type of Reiki had three levels or degrees. Subsequently Master Level was added. The Master designation is needed to qualify to teach others.

There are several branches of instruction. The first is Usui Shiki Ryoho. Mrs. Takata pioneered this type of Reiki. She formed the Reiki Alliance Masters with other individual Masters. Three degrees are taught by this instruction. Four attunements including history and myths and the hand positions are the first part of the first degree. They were also taught self-healing by channeling of Reiki energy. Second degree instruction imparts additional attunements covering three of the sacred symbols. One attunement is the key to the Master Degree. It also includes special channeling techniques.

Iris Ishikuro had much influence on Raku Kei Reiki after being trained by Mrs. Takata. Directional energy flow is the key here. Raku signifies the vertical flow of energy while Kei refers to horizontal energy. The hand positions, the four traditional symbols, distance healing and techniques in healing comprise the classes for the first and second degrees. To attain the third degree one must learn two additional symbols, white light, three attunement levels, and the use of crystals.

Usui or Tibetan Reiki is a type of instruction which combines the understandings expressed by Rand and Raku Kei with traditional Reiki.

There are several options that a student can select from when preparing for Reiki instruction.
